Mountain Mover

“You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.”

Matthew 17:20 

 

Faith......with even a little bit we can move mountains!  Even the mountains we create in our own minds.  Philippians 4:13 reminds us that "For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength" which includes strengthening our faith.  Here's my question to you: What mountains need to be moved from your life?

Ain't No Mountain High Enough

God created you to do amazing things!

There are some situations we encounter that seem completely impossible and overwhelming.  When we are faced with these daunting situations, what do we do?  Well, the easy thing would be to just give up, pitch a tent at the foot of that mountain, and decide this is where I will live, please have my mail forwarded here.  

 

I had a truckload of gravel being delivered to my house. I didn't realize how big a truckload was and was not prepared for it.  But our HOA had already let me know that I needed to get that pile out from in front of our house IMMEDIATELY.  So, I grabbed a shovel and a wheel barrow and began moving it to the back of the house.  It took several hours before I could even see any progress being made, but after a short break I was back at it.  Little by little that mountain became a hill, then a mound, then it was gone.  

 

When we encounter overwhelming situations, we must develop a plan to deal with the issues.  We must rely on God, because it's HIS job to get us where He has planned for us.  And remember, God has enabled you to do amazing things...so what's stopping you? 

Let's Consider Just How Awesome God Is

For the Lord is the one who shaped the mountains,
    stirs up the winds, and reveals his thoughts to mankind.
He turns the light of dawn into darkness
    and treads on the heights of the earth.
    The Lord God of Heaven’s Armies is his name!

Amos 4:13

I was talking with a friend, yesterday, about how awesome God is and how often we take His awesomeness for granted.  We do, you know.  As we enter into December where we celebrate God's most awesome gifts to us, lets take a look at some of the things about God we take for granted.

Look at what Amos reminds us of...God shaped the mountains!  I couldn't do that, can you?  God's awesome creativity shaped the beautiful mountains.

God stirs the winds...  John 3:8 says, "The wind blows wherever it wants. Just as you can hear the wind but can’t tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can’t explain how people are born of the Spirit"  Only God knows where the wind comes from and where it goes because He is the one who stirs it.

God reveals His thoughts to mankind... That is pretty amazing!  If God didn't reveal Himself to us, do you think we could seriously come up with all that He has done, said, and created?

God turns the light of dawn into darkness... Remember when Jesus died? Matthew 27:45 says, "At noon, darkness fell across the whole land until three o’clock."  Remember in Genesis 1 when God created the day and the night?  Can we do that?  

These are things we take for granted.  God is the God of all creation and He is AWESOME!
