To The Rescue

Tell everyone who is discouraged, be strong and don't be afraid! God is coming to your rescue.

Isaiah 35:4

 

As I am writing this, Vivaldi is playing on my phone.  I love classical music.  It rescues my mind from the stresses, frustrations, anxieties, and the general uneasiness of daily life.  It's an incredible feeling to be rescued.  As a matter of fact, one of my favorite teacher is our rescue dog Woodybear.  He knows exactly how to rescue me from myself.  When I am stressed, he puts his chin on the arm of my chair so I'll focus on him and rub him.  When he hears the shower come on, he makes a dash to the bathroom and bumps the door open to make sure I'm okay.  Woody teaches me about being grateful for being rescued.

 

Think about this, when you are rescued, are you grateful?  Do you say "Thank You"?  When God rescues you from your situation, which your own decisions got you there, are you thankful?  

 

Have you ever been discouraged?  I mean REALLY discouraged where your only thought is "why bother"?  Guess what, God is coming to the rescue!  When we focus on HIM and give all our situations, all our feelings, all the dramas, all of our everything to Him...He comes to our rescue!  Faith gives us the ability to be strong and to be unafraid, because we KNOW God is our rescuer!!! 

Faithful

We like to know that our car will start every time we turn the key, don't we? And if it doesn't, we like taking it to someone we know will fix it right the first time, right?  We like it when someone tells us they will meet us at a certain time and they arrive just as they said, don't we?  Yet are we always just as faithful as we want others to be?  I'm not.  Don't get me wrong, I try to be faithful to do what I said, but sometimes there are extenuating circumstances like a train, or an accident holding traffic up, or I forgot to put the appointment in my calendar.

But the good thing about God is that He is faithful 100% of the time.  We are promised that He will never leave us or reject us, and He is true to that...ALWAYS. We are His children and He loves us...ALWAYS.

How would you feel if God was only as faithful as we are? Aren't you glad that God's faithfulness is not dependent on our faithfulness?  I am.

Faithful or Faithless?

Whoever can be trusted with a little can also be trusted with a lot, 

and whoever is dishonest with a little is dishonest with a lot. 

Luke 16:10 

 

Ever told someone you'd do something and then you decided later that you didn't want to do it, so you didn't.  Instead, you made an excuse.  Would you call that being "faithful"?  Yes, I'm trampling my own toes too.

 

I have yet to find anywhere in Scripture where we are told we are going to want or enjoy everything we agree to do.  However, I have found where we are instructed to take our vows, promises, commitments seriously and always be quick to fulfill them.  

 

Think about this, are you going to count on someone who constantly gives their word yet gives excuses when it's time to fulfill their promise?  How far are you willing to trust that person?  Now, do you have a friend you can trust implicitly? Why is that? Could it be they are faithful?

 

When we are faithful, we do what we agreed to do, whether we like it or not.  Here's the point God emphasized with me, it's not so much the deed but our faithfulness to do the deed that makes us truly faithful.
