You’re blessed when you feel you’ve lost what is most dear to you. Only then can you be embraced by the One most dear to you.
Matthew 5:4
I was sitting in my favorite hangouts having, big surprise, coffee when I noticed a group of younger people (by "younger" I mean not having grey hair yet) who were all sitting together but not a single one of them was saying a word. Why? Because they were all completely engrossed in their cellphones, tablets, and other devices.
The only time I heard a single word out of any of this gathering was when one of the member's device battery was almost used up. That was when I heard the claim, "I just COULDN'T LIVE without my phone! I think I'd DIE!"
While that response to an inanimate device might be a wee bit dramatic, think for a moment about this: "If you were stranded on a deserted island, what ONE thing could you not live without?" Now, imagine what would happen when that one thing was gone or broken...what would you do? Yet this is the dilemma that faces us each day!
What would happen if God decided that He didn't want us around anymore and instead of ending the world, He just walked away and ignored us? While that might, on the surface, SOUND idiotic, isn't that what we do when we "don't have time" to talk with Him or read what He has to say? Isn't that what we do every time something becomes more important to us than Him?
Perhaps it's time to change our priorities.
